The Edge of Salvation

It was early morning, freshly groomed and I was flying down the hill linking my heel and toe edge turns together. Then I felt it. My toe side edge gave way underneath me and I slammed down on my chest and tumbled down. Cold snow in all the wrong spots. Aches and pain here and there but nothing too serious. Goggles and hat somewhere up hill. Joy and hype level slightly diminished. Has this ever happened to you?

Losing an edge when you least expect it is the worst. You’re enjoying your ride and then it all goes wrong. In John 10:28-29 Jesus is talking about his disciples and he says, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” I find this so encouraging, that my soul is secure in the hand of God, eternally! Once a person is saved, no one can take that away. It is forever a gift from God that we can depend on. I cannot lose it, because God is greater than all!

Have you ever felt like your life was losing an edge?

When have you felt insecure in your relationship with God?

In those moments what has encouraged you?

How can knowing your soul is secure change the way you live today?
