2025 Rail Jam

ree

This past weekend, as temps dropped and excitment for winter spiked, JSAW kicked off the snow season with the annual preseason Rail Jam at Help Boardshop in Edina, MN! Over 150 people attended including the 76 riders on the snow we collected from local ice arena shavings. The day was all about community, connection, and fun.

The sold out event wasn’t a competition, it was a celebration of skill, creativity, and camaraderie. Riders hit the rails, donated by Hyland Hills Ski Area, in five 25-minute heats, with MC's calling out tricks and hyping up the crowd, handing out prizes along the way. Riders were going home with new mittens and gloves, hats, jackets, t-shirts, and even some snowskates. A couple young, unsuspecting onlookers even got to take home new helmets to get them ready to ride at future rail jams. The excitement was contagious, and there was never a dull moment!

Of course, an event like this doesn’t run itself. 23 dedicated volunteers worked hard to make it all happen, from building

the course, delivering snow, and shaping lips to handing out free concessions and keeping the music pumping. A special thanks goes out to DJ BennyK, who kept the beats flowing, and the Pizza Karma food truck, which kept everyone fueled. And nothing capped off the day better than gathering around the fire pit to enjoy some s’mores, swapping stories and celebrating a great day in the front yard!

While the tricks and fun were a big part of the day, the heart of the Rail Jam was community and outreach. JSAW welcomed riders and spectators alike into a supportive environment, inviting them to connect further through small group Bible studies and The Session. The energy on the drop in ramp mirrored the energy of the ministry; encouraging and full of life!

The JSAW Rail Jam was more than just a day of skiing and snowboarding. It was a reminder of what happens when people come together: friendships are formed, memories are made and a supportive community grows stronger. Whether you were there to ride, cheer, or volunteer, the day left everyone inspired and looking forward to the next event.

Stay tuned for upcoming Bible studies, volunteer opportunities, and future rail jams. If you would like to make a donation to help us continue to put on events like this, please Click Here! We can’t wait to see you on the slopes this winter!
