Roll with Jesus

The Easter Party was a success! While the JSAW staff played the Easter bunny and hid the eggs in the park, I (Hannah) gathered everyone together for a short version of why we celebrate Easter and who Jesus is. We did this in a short and condensed, minute long, summary small group for the sake of the young ones.

I started off by asking the girls what Easter is all about. A few of the younger girls raised their hands yelling answers like “Christ!” and “egg hunts!” One of them in particular wanted to share favorite things about Easter. So we all shared that as well. A few of the families brought snacks and drinks. As the girls snacked, I drew them a picture of how I choose to think about Jesus. It was so sweet.

One sweet girl turned to me to say she wasn’t Christian, to which I thought, “How cool, she knows about Jesus,” knowing that the Lord’s already at work in her heart. After small group, we had our egg hunt in the park on our skateboards which was a blast!!

The girls had so much fun and were stoked to find items other than candy in the eggs – mini

skateboards with references to Jesus on them like “Roll with Jesus,” bracelets that said “Jesus <3s you,” and stretchy fidget toys with Jesus on the end. I even overheard one girl say, “it’s Jesus!”. The parents were extremely appreciative and it was obvious the girls loved every minute of it. Here's to the next party!
