Wow, summer flew by and JSAW’s wake program was bumping! We served 192 unique riders June through August with 42 days on the water. I personally drove 100 hours on JSAW’s boat. Beyond JSAW’s weekly ride days, small groups, outreach and camps, we were blessed with opportunities to serve guys in recovery at Minnesota Teen Challenge, serving kids in the foster care system with Royal Family Kids Camp, and even a group of young guys from Ukraine.
My favorite story was of a boy who joined a wake session, I was sharing the devotional for the day and chose to do John 3:16. A couple of the kids had never heard that Bible verse before, so I encouraged them to memorize it. As we went back to the dock we all practiced together. A couple weeks later a mom reached out and said her son’s friend recited John 3:16 to her and that he never knew that verse before until he learned about it at JSAW’s wake session.
A girl came out wakeboarding with our Monday girls group and was really nervous. It was her first time wakeboarding and she didn’t know anyone else in the group. Our volunteer coaches taught her to get up and ride. We learned that her home life was a bit challenging and found a donor to sponsor her next series of sessions. With this support she just lit up! She was alone, took a risk trying something new and gained so much more confidence through JSAW’s wake program as she learned more about how much God loves her.
It was an incredible summer and we are so thankful for everyone offering homes, boats, time, coaching and the finances to support all the riders through JSAW’s wake program. So many new learns, so many lives transformed. Thank you for making riders into disciples on the lake with JSAW this summer!
PS – JSAW is currently selling the boat so we can purchase a new one for next season. The boat was a gift from a donor and MN Inboard is helping JSAW to get a new boat each year.
