"Pros Being Bros"? A Bible Study for Professional Skaters is Thriving - Recap on Street League Las Vegas

Vegas was amazing! The Street League Takeover this year was more than just another skate contest, it was a moment of deep connection, purpose, and growth. I had the incredible privilege of serving as chaplain alongside some of the top skateboarders in the world, and honestly, it was one of the most meaningful experiences I’ve had yet.

As chaplain, my role goes far beyond prayer, though prayer is at the heart of it. It’s also about being a source of emotional support, encouragement, and sometimes even strategy. There’s something really special about sitting with a skater before they skate in front of the world (SLS Vegas has 4M views on youtube in just a week), talking through trick selection, pacing, and what obstacles to hit (and which ones to skip). It’s a mix of spiritual and practical, helping these guys not just compete at their best, but be their best.

What’s been even more powerful, though, is the community forming around faith. Every Monday morning, we’ve been gathering online for Pros Being Bros, our online Bible study for pro skateboarders. We’ve been meeting for about two months now, and we’ve had up to 20 pros showing up each week, sharing life, faith, and real struggles. The coolest part? We’re seeing prayers actually answered. Guys will share prayer requests in the chat, and then a week or two later, we’re watching those things come to life. It’s wild to witness God moving in the skate world like this.

What's Next?

The next stop is Brazil on December 7th, and I can’t wait to see what God does there. This chaplaincy work is such a unique calling, it’s about meeting athletes where they are and helping them encounter something eternal in the midst of their passion.
