Fall Skate Jam Recap

This event was insane! Over a hundred spectators showed up to watch twenty five skaters go crazy! Everything from the sponsors that gave prizes, to the free Chickfila sandwiches made this event quite memorable. We had seven amazing skaters in our grom division and we had 15 of the best rippers in Minnesota in our Open class. People were on the edge of their seats waiting to see who would take home the win. After the event was over, everyone kept saying what a blast they had and how excited they were for the next one!

During this event there was a team of volunteers working behind the scenes that helped to make it run super efficiently. Part of this team was devoted to making sure not only that riders had a great experience, but that we were actively making disciples throughout it all. Through this team we were able to share the gospel with one rider, pray with and invite seven more into deeper community here at JSAW and able to give away 30 booklets of the Gospel of John.

One of the riders who was prayed for has been coming to our weekly Bible studies. Through these, I have seen him steadily mature more and more in his faith. This event was no exception. While in the middle of competing, there was a younger skater who was having some difficulty navigating the course. Upon noticing that, this skater stopped skating, went over and assisted the young ripper into his next trick. I told him afterwards that I loved watching him do that. He replied, "helping kids is way more important than your own skating." This kid rips. But he saw an opportunity to be kind to someone. That is what making riders into disciples looks like.

Thank you to all the sponsors that made this event possible, every donor that gave, and every volunteer who served. I am honored to have seen God at work through all of this and am psyched to see what the future will bring!
