The Holy Spirit Moved on Go Skate Day: Always Be Ready

Go skate day 2026 was one for the books! Riders from all around Minnesota and some surrounding areas all came and gathered together for the great “Push” through downtown Minneapolis. JSAW was ready to serve them through both physical and spiritual means; everything from our legendary coolers on mopeds to our trained team on the ground doing outreach to having a trained medic on the scene to care for any injuries that arose. As the day went on, skaters pushed themselves to their max limits. They jumped down stairs, gaps, and big banks.

This event is known for its craziness and insanity. There’s tons of weed smoke filling the air, alcohol being consumed and skaters coming out in droves with death wishes. As I was going over the details with our team before the big event, I quoted a charge from the apostle Paul to his pupil Timothy.

In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 2 Timothy 4:1-2

Paul stood his ground throughout many crazy and insane circumstances. And one of his last charges to his disciple Timothy was to do the same. Stand your ground, be ready, Preach the Word. This is why JSAW exists. We are here to bring hope and eternal life to a culture that desperately needs it. We needed to be ready at all times to “Preach the word” if the opportunity ever arose. The Holy Spirit brought many riders to us as a result.

On one occasion I ran into a rider who had injured his ankle. This rider grew up in a rough spot. Skateboarding was his greatest outlet and so he had been actively involved in skateboarding for twenty plus years. When he was young he used to bully anyone who opposed his way of life. As he grew older, he realized how wrong he had been and instead became sorry for the things he had done. As I heard this conversation I was able to share the reason behind my faith and invite this rider to Bible study. We exchanged contact info and I prayed for his ankle.

As the day came to an end, we went back to the shop to recap how the event had gone. The amount of impact was awesome. We had opportunities to pray for more than twenty riders, handed out five Gospels of John booklets, invited five riders to church and Bible study, had the opportunity to care for at least five riders who were injured, shared the gospel message with two riders and ended up handing out ALL of our ministry supplies. God certainly moved through each and every one of us that day as we were willing to serve.

Summer has just begun and opportunities for ministry are endless. We are actively working to raise funds for this incredible reason. This event and all of the incredible stories that happened would not have been possible without our incredible donors! Thank you all for all your support in making this amazing ministry opportunity possible.
