Volunteer Spotlight – Sherry Olson

Hello, my name is Sherry Olson. I am the mother of 3 grown children and the grandmother of 5 (ages 3-15). I have enjoyed many different jobs over the years from sales clerking to teaching classroom music and directing choirs and musicals. I am currently the assistant in charge of the volunteers and clients at a local food shelf. I love to spend time with my kids and grandkids, garden, read and play the piano. My greatest passion is leading Bible studies and teaching a parenting class at the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center.

I was fortunate to grow up in a home where Jesus was known and served. He became my personal Savior when I was 13. But it wasn’t until I was in college that I understood His Lordship in my life. I am still learning and growing and look forward to each day to what the Lord is wanting to do in my life and wanting to teach me.

Our youngest son introduced us to the ministry of JSAW when he started as an intern, then joined the staff part-time and eventually becoming full-time. My husband and I are pleased to support JSAW financially as well as volunteering with the fall Night of Action fundraiser.
